Family Day at the Range...

On Tuesday, I had the opportunity to take part in Family Day. In the past, my days have been filled with working full time so I usually do not get to attend events like this one. Family day is an event that the unit coordinates to give families a chance to see what it is exactly that their soldier does for work. This time I was able to attend! All the families met up and loaded up on two buses to ride out to the field. There were two different viewing areas one was about 200 yards from the launchers and the other area was about half a mile away. I opted to go up close first and then meet up with everyone else. I had never seen a launcher fire from that close so I was very excited. I was ready with my earplugs, video camera, and my Nikon. The first few rounds it took me a bit to get a feel for what and when they would fire. Once I got the hang of it, I was able to capture a couple of great pictures and then I have two videos. After being out there for about an hour, we all headed back to the main viewing area with everyone else. There they had the USO set up cooking hamburgers and hotdogs for all the soldiers and families to enjoy. There were also a couple of static displays of some of the military vehicles. After the families had a chance to enjoy some lunch, all the children were gathered up and they had the opportunity as a group to call for fire and the launcher then launched one more round. The weather forecast had predicted rain showers, luckily we could not have asked for better weather. It was hot but the sky was very clear for Korea. It was a beautiful day and it was wonderful to see what all Robert and the other soldiers do! In addition, it was nice to get away for the day! After it was said and done, we got to look forward to all that the weekend had in store! Lots of exciting events to celebrate this coming weekend to include Robert’s birthday, Father’s day, and also it has been one year since Robert asked me to be his wife!! Where has the time gone and look where we are now! I will write a separate post about the events of the weekend. I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend!
