Okay now to get everyone caught up...

This is going to be rather short and sweet to get everyone up to speed on what we have been up to the past month and a half! Ready set go!

The past month and a half of work has been great! I am learning something new almost every day and better yet, I really enjoy most of the people that I work with! We have a good time and try our best to make work fun! Robert has been enjoying his command for the most part, yet here lately he has had a lot of days off. This has been nice for him!

Christmas was small but great! Robert was so excited about my Christmas present that he could not wait until Christmas morning so we opened our couple of gifts on Christmas Eve. He bought me a zoom lens for my camera and he was very excited for us to be able to take it on our NYE trip to Taipei. Robert and I had decided that we were going to have people over for Christmas dinner so I started baking a couple of days prior and we had a turkey, corn casserole, yams, green bean casserole, pumpkin pie, and lots of other goodies that people brought. We ended up having about 12 people over to our apartment and everything turned out perfectly! My first turkey in a small oven turned out great!

One week later, we headed to Taipei! Our first attempt was a fail due to snow but luckily, we were able to get out 24 hours later! Therefore, we lost a day of exploring and sightseeing! We arrived on NYE explored the area we were staying in and then decided to get ready for the big NYE celebration in the city of Taipei. When we made it to the train station it was wall-to-wall people and it ended up taking us about five trains and an hour later, we were able to plow our way through and all get on the same train. Once we made it into Taipei we were all hungry and we had a decision to make 1) to try to get on another crowded train and head further into Taipei, 2) find something to eat around the station we were at and see what we could find around there, 3) go ahead and eat and then head back to our hotel and find something in our area and not have to worry about fighting massive crowds of people. We decided to find something to eat in the area we were in and then try to head back towards the hotel. After dinner, we get on the train to head back and according to our calculations, we were going to make it back to the hotel just in time to fill our glasses for a toast at midnight or so we thought! We forgot to factor in a train going the opposite direction, broke down and our train had to stop and all the people from the other train were put on our train which then caused us to be on a train at midnight! We arrived at the train station just in time to run to the Family Mart and pick up some drinks for our toast at 4 min after midnight! It made for good times and great memories! Once we made it back to the hotel we spent part of the evening checking out all the festivities that had just ended in our area. Little did we know that we could have stayed near the hotel and there was still a lot going on. Oh well! The next day and a half we spend sightseeing. Taipei was great! The people were always very nice and helpful! We would love to go back again someday and to top it off the weather was much warmer!

Since we have been back, it has snowed about 2 feet total in the past month and the temperature rarely gets above about 28 degrees. It is a bone chilling cold all day everyday and I am tired of it! Other than that, life is quiet these days. I have gotten into a nice routine during the week, I am still teaching abs and spin on Tue and Thurs night and then on Mon, Wed, and Saturdays when I am not teaching spin I am working on training for a half marathon. I am up to 4.5 miles in 4 weeks and feeling great! As of right now, I do not have a specific race that I want to run in but more of just being able to run 13.1 miles! Robert and I have also been visiting a church in Yongsan. We have been twice and so far, we really like it! The only bad part is the hour and fifteen min drive to get there! Therefore, I think we are going to try to go every other week. Last week after church we were sitting at Outback, we looked outside, and it was dumping snow! It took us over 2 hours to get back home and it continued to snow until about 7 or 8 that night! I hope everyone is doing well and had a great Christmas and New Years! I am hoping to get into a better routine with blogging now that I have a full time job!

  1. Love to read about your & Robert's adventures! The pics are great, too. How do you make the collages? And 1F??? My car just says 'ICE' once it get to 10 or 15F - learned that in Lawton. :) Mia baby seems to love the snow! It stays just warm enough in our little valley that we get monsoon rains rather than snow. Hugs!
