This past week was Warrior Friendship Week here on post. If you would like more information about the event click here. It was a four-day event to celebrate the alliance between Korea and the U.S. The events of the week consisted of a variety of sporting events that the units and individuals could compete in throughout the week. The kickoff event was a 5 K Fun Run, my friend Katie and I decided to run, and we were two of the few family members to take part in the event. We ran behind her husband’s unit. First, she ran to our apartment and then we ran from our apartment to the event. Luckily, her husband was able to take us home afterwards.
On Tuesday, I had record attendance in my abs class! There were 15 people in class! The most I have had this far which was very exciting! Then Wednesday I had volunteered to make cookies and poster for our FRG (Family Readiness Group) Fundraiser that was going to take place on Thursday. Therefore, after spending 2 hours on the elliptical machine doing my cardio workout, I spent the remainder of the day baking cookies and making a couple of posters for the event. On Thursday, the final events and awards ceremony took place, which was also, where our fundraiser took place. I delivered the cookies and enjoyed the beautiful weather that we have had this past week. As I was trying to rush out the door to get the cookies and posters delivered, I forgot my camera, so no pictures from the event!
Friday, I worked out and taught my KIDFIT class, and then came home to enjoy the remainder of the day relaxing with Robert. He had the day off! Earlier in the week, Katie asked me if I wanted to run in a team 10K race that was going to take place on Saturday. I decided it would be a fun way to get in some miles so I agreed. I spent the remainder of the day relaxing and mentally preparing to run a 10K. Saturday morning, of course the one day I have to be outside it is overcast and dreary! It sprinkled on and off prior to the beginning of the race. I cannot complain too much because it was nice running weather. Originally, they were not going to allow Co-ed teams but we could not find a fifth female to complete our team so they allowed us to have a male. The rules were that you had to have a team of five individuals and everyone had to cross the finish line together. The race was great and the course was nice. There was one other all female team and then our team. We finished ahead of the other female team but since we were not an all female team we had to take second place. Oh well! It was still fun and we each got a medal, another one to add to my small collection! Pictures from the race to come later. A great week, weekend, and ready for some more nice weather!
